The first permanent span at Eastmanville was a swing bridge,
built in 1916 at a cost of $39,000….In the early days of its existence the
bridge was opened quite frequently, but as river traffic slowed, the mechanism
eventually rusted shut….When the bridge was replaced in 1968, it cost
$647,213. It was rebuilt again in
1998. The library wishes to thank Wallace K. Ewing, PhD. for permission to use text from his book A Topical Directory of the History of Northwest Ottawa County, distributed by the Tri-Cities Historical Museum. Click on images to enlarge. It may take a moment for the image to load.
