Explore Your Past

What early resident was called “President for a Day”? When was Grand Haven’s Great Bank Robbery? Where is Uncle Joe buried? Visit the Local History and Genealogy Department to find the answers to these questions and more.

Materials in this department were first housed in a small locked room and available only by request. Today, these resources are fully accessible – many online – to the curious researcher. The staff is committed to preserving the unique history of the Tri-Cities Area, which includes Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ferrysburg, and surrounding areas. That history may also include your own unique history. We look forward to helping you find those missing links in the roots of your family tree. A-HA! moments are our specialty!
