Loutit District Library provides the district with many different services, from lending library material to hosting community programs. With your time and/or generosity, we can do even more to benefit the entire community.
The Friends of the Loutit District Library
The Friends run the Cheapstacks Used Book Store on the lower level of the library. Their tasks include sorting, marketing, and selling gently used books or other materials which are donated to the store and assisting with library programs.
The Friends of Loutit District Library strengthen the library’s resources and services by providing funds to supplement the tax-supported budget. The Friends promote a sense of community identity through the activities of the Loutit District Library.
A major source of revenue for the Friends is the Cheapstacks Used Book Store. This is a great source for all types of used books, videos, DVDs, music, and audio books. You can get involved by helping to sort, display, and sell items in Cheapstacks. Contact Ann Kammeraad at 842-5560, ext. 245 for more information about volunteering in Cheapstacks. Those interested in volunteering are also welcome to attend a Friends meeting. The Friends of Loutit District Library meet every first Wednesday of the month (except in June, July, and August) in the bookstore at 7:00 pm.

Have you thought of honoring or memorializing a cherished loved one with a gift to Loutit District Library? A gift plate will be placed in or on each library item purchased with the donation and will include the name of the person being honored or memorialized. What a great way to leave a lasting legacy! This form can be printed and used to make a memorial donation.
You're welcome to use this printable form to donate library materials. Drop it in the mail with your payment, or drop it by the library at your convenience.
Loutit District Library has the perfect gift for book lovers on your holiday list. Purchase a book to "adopt" and add to the Library's collection as a great way to memorialize a departed loved one or honor a cherished family member, friend or event. You choose the item to be donated and we place a bookplate in it to recognize your donation.
This year Grand Haven's The Bookman bookstore is partnering with the library to give local residents an opportunity to purchase children's books as gifts for the library. Library staff have created a wishlist of titles that are available from The Bookman. This will operate much like a gift registry at the store. You purchase the item at The Bookman and the store will deliver it to the library.
In addition, the library maintains an online wishlist of books, DVDs, and music CDs at Amazon.com for children and adults. Access the Amazon wishlist through the library's home page. This is a fast and easy method to donate to Loutit District Library and here are the instructions:
- Click here for the Wish List.
- Select an item(s) from the options, place in your cart and check out.
- If you do not have an Amazon account, you will be prompted to create one at this point.
- Use Loutit District Library as the mailing address.
- IMPORTANT: Check the box for “Include a free personalized gift message” and enter your name and address to receive a receipt for tax purposes and to have your name placed on the book plate. To have a book plate placed in honor of or in memory of a loved one, add “In honor of X” or “In memory of X” here also. Due to space limitations, extra wording cannot be added to the book plate.
We are happy to receive anything from the list at any time. Thanks for thinking of us!
