Librarian for Youth Services 

(Full-time, 40 hours per week)

Loutit District Library is seeking an enthusiastic full-time youth librarian to join a dynamic team of library professionals in our growing youth department. Candidates must be excited about innovative programming, working with the public in multiple settings, partnering with local schools and community organizations, and outreach.  The desired candidate is someone willing to take initiative, while working side-by-side with an amazing team. This position includes evening and weekend hours.  

Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited university along with either Level 1 or Level 2 certification (or the ability to obtain such certification) from the State of Michigan. Experience working in a public library in a professional capacity with youth preferred.  

Compensation: This position starts at $27.18 per hour and includes a generous retirement and insurance benefits package, as well as paid personal, vacation, and sick leave.

Library Page – Circulation

(Part-time, 20 hours per week)

Loutit District Library is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic to work 20 hours per week in Circulation Services.  Primary job functions include checking in, sorting, and shelving materials; emptying the book drops; and ensuring the collections are in order through regular shelf-reading.   

Schedule: The schedule for this position will include mornings, evenings, and weekend rotations.   

Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old and can work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.  The candidate must also be able to stand, walk, bend, and shelve for multiple hours.  Experience with the public is preferred.  

Compensation: Hourly rate for this position starts at $12.50 per hour. This position includes sick time.
