ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

(Full-time, 40 hours/week)

Loutit District Library seeks an organized and passionate leader to support its operations. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, this position is responsible for day-to-day operations of front-line services; initiates strategies to improve patron experience; addresses and resolves complaints from patrons; oversees data/statistics and policies and procedures for library operations; develops assigned library staff through evaluation, mentoring, and providing professional development, training, and safety initiatives; assists with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees; manages employee expectations and promotes a supportive, cohesive, and engaged culture; represents the library on committees, forums, and various community organizations where needed.

Desired Qualifications: Master’s degree in library science from an ALA–accredited program. Three years of public library experience in a professional capacity with increasing supervisory responsibility. Level 1 or Permanent Professional Certification by the State of Michigan.

Compensation.  Starting salary of $79,352 or more, dependent upon experience and qualifications, with excellent benefits.

Community Engagement Librarian

(Full-time, 40 hours/week)

Have fun coordinating library-wide programming, such as Summer and Winter Reading Programs, Kindness month, and more! Do you enjoy collaborating with others to bring great programs and services to the library? Do you want to make a difference by building relationships in your community? Are you interested in marketing the library and all the great things we do? If you answered yes to these questions, you may be the perfect candidate to be the next Community Engagement Librarian. The position works 40 hours per week and supervises our part-time Marketing Coordinator.

Qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited college or university. Strong organizational skills, computer proficiency, and a flexible schedule are required. Public library experience is a must, preferably with experience in programming, and supervisory experience is preferred.

Compensation: Salary for this position starts at $56,588 per year. This position’s benefits include retirement, health, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as long-term disability insurance, PTO, vacation, sick, and paid holiday time.

Administrative Assistant

(Part-time, 20 hours per week)

The position of Administrative Assistant is a support position. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, this position is responsible for office and clerical duties as assigned, preparing and distributing board packets and committee meeting minutes, ordering office supplies, creating room reservations for meetings, managing the administration calendar, updating directories, writing and sending donor thank-you letters, calling patrons regarding lost and found items, and other duties as assigned.

Compensation: Salary for this position starts at $14.10/hour. This position’s benefits include PTO, vacation, sick, and paid holiday time.
