Loutit District Library invites you to take part in The Grand Adventure this summer, a lifelong learning game with something for everyone! Whether you are reading on the beach, listening to a road trip audiobook, or attending a library program, earn Adventure Points while you read, learn, and have fun!
We’re encouraging the whole community to join The Grand Adventure. Participation is free; you don’t have to have a library card, and the challenge is open to everyone! Registration will begin May 13th.

The Basics
Join The Grand Adventure to earn Adventure Points by reading, completing activities, and attending programs throughout the summer. Collect 500 points to receive your finisher prize! Finisher prizes will be available beginning June 12. Every 100 points earned is an additional entry into a grand prize drawing of your choice.
Point guidelines:
• Earn 1 point for each minute of reading (e.g. 30 min. = 30 points).
• Earn 20 points for completing Grand Adventure activities.
• Earn 20 points for attending a summer library program
Read Books (or anything else!)
Each minute of reading is another point closer to your goal! Any type of reading counts for your minutes. You can read a magazine, eBook, graphic novel, newspaper, or listen to an audiobook — just keep reading! It’s that simple! You may choose to log your minutes on the Beanstack Tracker App or with a paper reading log. Not sure what to read? Try one of our staff picks.
Complete Activities
For every activity you complete on Beanstack, you can earn 20 points and collect a virtual badge. These fun activities are for adventurers of all ages and will keep you busy all summer long. Why not challenge your friends to see who can complete them all?
Attend Programs
We will have a calendar full of exciting events for all ages and interests! Start the summer with our Grand Adventure kick-off party on Saturday, June 1st, and view our calendar to see all of the upcoming events. For EVERY event you attend, you can earn 20 Adventure Points in the Beanstack app.
WIN PRIZES!
Collect 500 points to receive your finisher prize, available for pickup at the library starting June 10. Finisher prizes vary for kids, teens, and adults – and we are so excited about them all! In addition, for every 100 Adventure Points you earn, you will receive one virtual ticket to enter into one of our grand prize drawings. Tickets can be earned and entered via the Beanstack app. Put all your tickets toward the drawing you are most excited about, or spread your tickets out and enter many drawings – you decide!
Got your finisher prize but still up for an extra challenge? Keep on reading and adventuring to earn another ticket for every 100 additional points you earn (up to 5,000 points or 50 tickets per participant).
We have some amazing grand prizes this year! Grand prizes include a Nintendo Switch, a Kobo Clara eReader, a Grilling Prize Bundle, a Guitar or Ukelele from Walk the Beat, and a $100 Meijer Gift Card, just to name a few! Winners will be contacted the week of August 5th.
Get Started
Registration for The Grand Adventure begins May 13th! If you have used the Beanstack website or app in previous years, simply log in and join the 2024 Grand Adventure challenge. For those who are new to Beanstack, click here to register, or download the Beanstack Tracker App on the Apple App Store, or the Google Play Store for Android.
Everyone who signs up for the Grand Adventure will receive a coupon for a free book at the Cheapstacks Used Book Store here at the library, courtesy of the Friends of the Loutit District Library. Registered online? Next time you stop in to visit the library, let one of our staff members know and we can get you your bookstore coupon.
If using a paper log, you may either enter your reading points from your paper log into the Beanstack app or give it to one of our staff members when completed. Paper logs will only be used to track minutes. You must use Beanstack to earn points for completing activities and attending programs.
